Musical Lore

A residency in August 2024 bringing together writers, artists, composers and instrumentalists, drawing from community-based stories to inspire the creation of new musical works.

A Call for Submissions

Musaics of the Bay invites you to submit a mini-story or vignette (150 words or less) to be utilized as a springboard for inspiring a new work of music, art, or performance at our August Residency Program: Musical Lore.

We seek submissions from community members who range in backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Possible topics might include, but are not limited to: love, family, traditions, nature, life challenges, coming of age, immigration experiences, East Bay life, and more.

Submitted pieces do not have to be complete narratives; they can be impressionistic descriptions of scenes, moments, memories, emotions, or hopes. Poetry is also happily accepted.

Submissions will be made available to our participating artists who will choose the vignettes or poems on which they will base performances, or new works of music and art. All submissions will be posted on the Musaics of the Bay website.
