#32 — Isochronal
COMPOSED BY JIHWAN YOON, PREMIERED BY VIOLINIST YEJI PYUN & CLARINETIST YOUNGWOO JEON,
INSPIRED BY PENELOPE ANSTRUTHER’S SCULPTURE, “ISOCHRONAL II”
“I like to work intuitively with a cross disciplinary approach. I take cues from the materials I’m working with and I let them inform the process. For a while now I have been limiting myself to using only the materials I have accumulated in my studio. This forces me to look with new eyes at the objects directly in front of me. Isochronal II is part of a series of sculptures I made with these limitations in mind. They all include repurposed works on paper that I then pulped. I combined these with found wire and found mesh to make a number of wall hanging mobiles.”
