#40 - Tatlin
COMPOSED & PREMIERED BY PIANIST JEREMY CORREN, INSPIRED BY ARIEL SOULÉ’S PAINTING, “TATLIN”
“Among the many Art Movements I got to get through as a student at the Fine Art Academy, Constructivism was one that seduced me so much and Tatlin's work fascinated me. The Painting celebrates the emotional and utopian aspiration of a man who dared to go beyond his own purposes. The tower was a symbol of impossibility and, irony. It was never built. In that beautiful and odd structure the tower fulfilled two opposite states: it is straight and slated at the very same time! How was it possible? What I’m trying to say is that there is an eloquent concept that deal with the inner meaning of visual art: the impossible is instead possible. And what is more real? What you do really see or that part of the reality that remains unseen even if it is in front of you? I started painting about all that avoiding to look at the photos of the Tatlin Tower but relying on what my memory could have remembered, confident in what my mind trustfully would send me back. And that is the painting.”
