#35 — Early Spring Rain in the Valley
COMPOSED BY ISAAC SANTOS & PREMIERED BY VIOLINIST GENEVA LEWIS, INSPIRED BY WENDY GOLDBERG’S “EARLY SPRING RAIN IN THE VALLEY”
“Having grown up on the east coast where the seasons are so dramatic, it took me a while to get accustomed to the more subtle seasonal fluctuations of the west! I’m drawn to quickly changing weather and fleeting moments of light—be it the beginnings or ends of the day when the light is often more dramatic,— or transient weather, and transformations of skies and clouds in particular. My favorite time of year here is between February and May with late storms and cloud formations and the intense greens of early Spring. This piece incorporates many of these constantly changing conditions and what I’m most excited by and drawn to!”
